GETTING TO KNOW ERIC WOODS
Updated: Aug 1, 2021
My name is Eric Woods, and I am on Instagram (mostly) for my work as a horror author. You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.
Along with writing scary stuff, I am active in a number of other arenas!
I work full-time as a Clerkship Coordinator for SIU School of Medicine, where I have been for just over two years. No, I'm not a doctor, but I have played one on stage before. Yes, I was a theater actor off and on for about 17 years before I "unofficially" retired in 2015.
I have been a local freelance writer since 2015, having written for SO Magazine and the Springfield Business Journal Illinois. Back in 2009, I wrote a long series of articles chronicling Abraham Lincoln’s business life in Springfield.
Speaking of Lincoln, from March through October, I serve as the tour guide for the Lincoln Ghost Walk here in Springfield, IL. So, if you get lost on a road trip and find yourself in central Illinois, come on by and take the tour!
When I have time for hobbies, I love to read (Stephen King is my favorite), and I have been an avid supporter of other independent authors, reading a number of other indie books. I am currently attempting a "21 in 21" where I hope to get through 21 indie books this year.
I also love to exercise (#numberonerockyfan) and I am an avid sports fan (Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks).
I have two children, one is into acting and singing, while the other is a future PGA golfer.
As far as writing goes, I have now published four solo novels along with a book of stage plays. My debut novel, "Pummeled," came out in 2018, but ironically it was not a work of horror. It was an action/drama tale of a young female MMA fighter named Bree Aniston whose struggles as a child led to her becoming the most dangerous fighter around. The sequel, "Pummeled: Submission" is set for release on Thanksgiving Day 2021.
My horror novels include the Amazon Best Seller in American Horror, "Dragon's Blood" along with "Welcome to Oblivion." My most recent publication was the crime/horror tale "Clippings" which was written in a style of media articles.
Last November, I began collaborating with fellow author Diana Marie Hall (who writes horror under the name Anna Matthews) on a novel entitled "The Third Floor," which has now blossomed into a series of future books based around the mysterious town of Cedar Lake.
Our first release, "Beckoned: A Cedar Lake Novella," will be released on October 3rd. Our first novel together is entitled "Esme" and is tentatively scheduled for an early 2022 release (January or February). We are looking at a June release for "The Third Floor."
So there you have it! I am a very busy person but never too busy to talk to the amazing writing and reading communities out there!
Is there anything else you want to know about me? Feel free to ask!
